Wilding Wimborne
Who Are We?
We are a group of local individuals and groups who are concerned about the biodiversity crisis and want to do something about it.
What's The Issue?
What's Our Aim?
1. To bring the Wimborne community together to raise
awareness and address the local loss of insects and other wildlife.
2. To reduce the impact of items and activities that are harmful to wildlife: for example, limit the use of herbicides and pesticides; avoid peat-based compost; reduce light pollution.
3. To build homes for wildlife and erect them around the town and in people’s own gardens as community activities.
4. To provide food for wildlife and increase the native flora in the town by Identifying suitable areas and planting them with native wildflowers.
5. To increase the tree canopy cover from 15% to 20%. by undertaking planting on green spaces, streets and the river valleys, while providing a diversity of tree species to provide food and habitat for wildlife.
6. To provide opportunities for people to interact with nature through events, walks, planting and growing fruit and vegetables for the benefit of the local community.
7. To protect our rivers by monitoring their health and pollution events.
